Trusted songwriter Dol Hui makes a lightning-fast comeback with ‘RUNAWAY’
In November 2017, Pentagon returns once again with their fifth mini album filled with all self-written songs.
Continuing the continuation of the previous album [DEMO_01], the fifth mini album [DEMO_02] is filled with all self-composed songs by the members of Pentagon, including the title track, which borrows its meaning from the dictionary meaning of ‘DEMO’, which refers to a musical work.
Leader Hui, who has gained both talent and popularity through Wanna One’s title songs “NEVER” and “Energetic” and “Wake me up” on the KBS music reality program “Hyena on the Keyboard,” contributed to the title song of this album. The title track, “RUNAWAY,” a collaboration between Hui and Flow Blow, is a powerful song with an intense intro that seems to suck you in and a powerful sound that gives you a sense of excitement from the beginning. Continuing in the vein of the previous title track “Like This,” which captured the pain of wandering youth, the music video for “RUNAWAY” draws attention to the hope of never giving up and preparing for a new start in the face of an uncertain future.
The first track, “VIOLET,” is an electronic pop song with emotional lyrics that compare the color purple, which is a perfect contrast between cold and warm, to the sad and beautiful love between lovers. It is a self-written song that shows Kino’s emotions, and the warm vocals and track that contrast with the sad lyrics add to the song’s charm. The third track, “All Right,” composed by member Jinho, is a hot and passionate song with a groovy hip-hop rhythm and a lively reggae guitar, giving it a dynamic pentagon appeal. It’s a shoulder bumping anthem about letting go of your worries and just having fun today. The fourth track, “Pretty Boys,” is a hip-hop track with Pentagon’s unique personality, featuring the charming raps of the three rappers on top of a powerful and swaggering trap beat. Ethan, Yuto, and Woosuk participated in the song’s writing and composing, especially Ethan, who also participated in the arrangement from start to finish, showing his passion for music. The unique chorus is addictive, and the lyrics are impressive as they express their thoughts and aspirations about their position as idol rappers. The fifth track, “Stay with Me,” is a vocal unit song and is a ballad about wishing for a lover to stay by your side forever. The lyrical melody is complemented by the voices of Jinho, Hui, Hongseok, Shinwon, Yeowon, Yanan, and Kino, completing the pentagon ticket ballad.
Pentagon’s fifth mini album [DEMO_02] is their fifth mini album, and they are creating a unique feeling of ‘Pentagon’ with their unwavering passion for music and serious attitude. Although it is only their first year of debut, we are looking forward to their hot performance on this album, which shows their hard work and skill that they have been running non-stop until their fifth mini album.
